The have added Kyle Mangas as they continue shaping their roster ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Charlotte signed the 27-year-old guard on Wednesday, giving Mangas another opportunity with an NBA organisation after spending much of his professional career in the G League.

The exact terms were not announced by the Hornets, although Rod Boone of The Charlotte Observer reported that Mangas has signed an Exhibit 10 contract.

For Mangas, the opportunity represents another chance to turn years of strong G League production into his first appearance in an NBA regular-season game.

Mangas Earns Another NBA Opportunity

Mangas has spent the past several seasons working his way towards an NBA breakthrough.

The 6-foot-4 guard went undrafted after playing college basketball at Indiana Wesleyan before beginning a professional career that has included time overseas and in the NBA G League.

His performances eventually earned him a two-way contract with the San Antonio Spurs in December 2025.

That stint was brief, however, and Mangas did not make his NBA regular-season debut before the two-way deal ended later that month.

Charlotte is now giving him another opportunity.

Strong Season With Austin Spurs

Mangas arrives after another productive G League campaign.

Across 35 regular-season games for the Austin Spurs in 2025-26, he averaged 16.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.

Perhaps most encouraging was his shooting.

Mangas made 39.7% of his three-point attempts, connecting on 2.7 threes per game while playing more than 31 minutes a night.

His ability to score efficiently from outside gives Charlotte another experienced guard to evaluate heading towards training camp.

Greensboro Move Was an Early Clue

The Hornets' interest in Mangas didn't begin with Wednesday's signing.

On August 19, Charlotte's G League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm, acquired Mangas' returning-player rights from the Austin Spurs as part of a six-team trade.

That move established a connection between Mangas and the Hornets organisation before he signed his NBA contract.

If Mangas does not secure a place on Charlotte's regular-season roster, Greensboro could therefore become an important part of his next chapter.

But first he'll have another opportunity to show the Hornets what he can do.

Still Chasing His NBA Debut

Mangas' story is slightly unusual.

At 27, he isn't a young prospect being signed primarily for long-term development.

He's an experienced professional who has continued producing at G League level while waiting for an NBA opportunity to stick.

His previous two-way contract with San Antonio took him closer than ever, but an NBA appearance never arrived.

That leaves one significant milestone still missing from his career.

Charlotte could provide another chance to reach it.
