The Charlotte Hornets have agreed to a five-year, $209 million rookie-scale contract extension with forward Brandon Miller, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
The agreement, reported on Monday, October 19, comes on the NBA's deadline for eligible players from the 2023 draft class to sign rookie-scale extensions. It represents a major financial commitment to Miller as Charlotte continues to build its future around its younger players.
Miller, the No. 2 overall selection in the 2023 NBA Draft, has established himself as one of the Hornets' leading offensive options. During the 2025–26 regular season, he averaged 20.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists across 65 appearances, shooting 38.3 percent from three-point range.
The extension follows an offseason of significant change in Charlotte, including the departures of LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges. With Miller and fellow young talent Kon Knueppel forming part of the team's new foundation, the Hornets are making a substantial investment in their next chapter.
The reported agreement provides long-term contractual certainty for both Miller and Charlotte. However, the size of the deal also raises expectations for the forward to develop into a consistent franchise-leading performer as the Hornets attempt to establish themselves as a competitive Eastern Conference team.
