DeMar DeRozan intends to sign with the Denver Nuggets.
The six-time NBA All-Star has chosen Denver as his next destination in free agency, according to NBA insider Chris Haynes.
The move would add one of the NBA's most experienced scorers to a Nuggets roster built around three-time MVP Nikola Jokic.
Denver gets its man
The Nuggets' interest in DeRozan had intensified over the last few days.
After completing the deal that sent Peyton Watson to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Denver turned its attention towards adding DeRozan.
Now it appears that pursuit has paid off.
DeRozan gives Denver another player capable of creating his own shot and provides considerable experience to a team with championship ambitions.
DeRozan moves on from Sacramento
DeRozan became a free agent in July after the Sacramento Kings waived the veteran forward.
He had spent two seasons in Sacramento after joining the Kings from the Chicago Bulls in 2024.
DeRozan averaged 18.4 points per game during the 2025-26 season and remained one of the biggest names available in free agency.
Despite turning 37 this summer, his scoring ability and experience attracted interest from several teams looking to strengthen their rosters.
Another weapon alongside Nikola Jokic
The prospect of DeRozan playing alongside Jokic is perhaps the most interesting part of the move.
Denver already possesses one of the league's best offensive hubs in Jokic, and adding another established scorer gives the Nuggets another option when possessions slow down.
DeRozan has built much of his career around his ability to create shots from the mid-range and get to the free-throw line.
He won't need to carry the offensive load in Denver.
Instead, the Nuggets can ask him to complement Jokic and provide another experienced scoring option when they need one.
Denver keeps reshaping its roster
It's been a busy few days for the Nuggets.
Denver moved on from Peyton Watson earlier this week, receiving an unprotected 2031 Cleveland Cavaliers first-round pick and a 2032 Sacramento Kings second-round pick as part of the multi-team deal.
Almost immediately, reports emerged that Denver had shifted its focus towards DeRozan.
Now the six-time All-Star appears set to become the latest addition to a Nuggets team with its sights firmly set on competing for another NBA championship.
