The Minnesota Timberwolves and Utah Jazz have agreed to a late-offseason trade that sends former lottery pick to Minnesota and to Utah.

Minnesota is trading Green and cash considerations to the Jazz in exchange for Williams and .

Williams, selected by Utah with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, now gets a fresh start with a Timberwolves team that has been one of the NBA's most active franchises this offseason.

Minnesota Takes a Chance on

Williams is still only 21 years old and arrives in Minnesota after two seasons with Utah.

The 6-foot-8 wing made 41 starts across 67 appearances during the 2025-26 season, averaging 8.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 46.8% from the field.

His departure represents a relatively early end to Utah's investment in a player it selected inside the top 10 just two years ago.

For Minnesota, however, Williams represents another young player with developmental upside who could benefit from a change of environment.

Trade Helps Clear the Way for

The move also has an important financial component for Minnesota.

Green is due approximately $14.7 million for the 2026-27 season, and moving his contract provides the Timberwolves with the salary flexibility required to complete their previously reported deal with .

Minnesota agreed to a two-year deal with Kuminga earlier this week, continuing a significant reshaping of its roster ahead of the new season.

Williams is expected to remain with the Timberwolves, while Minnesota is reportedly expected to waive and stretch Konchar.

Gives Utah Another Experienced Wing

Utah receives a more established NBA rotation option in Green.

The 25-year-old has already appeared in more than 300 NBA games and was part of the Dallas Mavericks team that reached the 2024 NBA Finals.

Green spent last season with Charlotte before being moved to Minnesota earlier this offseason. His stay with the Timberwolves ultimately proved brief, with Utah now becoming the next stop in his career.

The Jazz add another experienced wing while moving on from Williams only two years after using a lottery selection on him.

Another Major Change in Minnesota

The deal continues a remarkably active offseason for the Timberwolves.

Minnesota has already made significant changes to its roster, and the expected addition of Kuminga gives the team another athletic forward to add to its new-look group.

Williams may not arrive with the same immediate expectations, but acquiring a 21-year-old former top-10 selection gives Minnesota another intriguing development project without compromising the financial flexibility it needed for its larger offseason plans.
