LA Clippers guard has suffered a partial tear of the plantar fascia in his right foot and will be re-evaluated in four weeks, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.

Strus suffered the injury during Sunday's preseason game against the Golden State Warriors. The 30-year-old was making a cut during the first quarter when he pulled up without contact and limped to the locker room after playing just five minutes.

The Clippers initially announced only that Strus had suffered a right foot injury, with head coach Ty Lue acknowledging after the game that the non-contact nature of the play was concerning. Further testing has now established the extent of the injury.

A four-week re-evaluation timetable means Strus is set to miss the beginning of the regular season. The timetable is for another evaluation rather than a return to play, so his eventual absence could extend beyond that point.

The setback is particularly frustrating for Strus after injuries significantly disrupted his previous season. He missed most of last season after suffering a Jones fracture in his left foot before returning late in the campaign. His latest injury is to the opposite foot.

Strus joined the Clippers during the offseason and was expected to play an important role on the perimeter this season.
